I really like this post. It's packed with information and brings a Canadian perspective to an unfamiliar situation (at least to southwestern Ontario Canadians) without being too gee-whiz, zealous or judgmental about it.

Nice blog post! You totally just described my vacation last year to Arizona...except we went in August when the average temp was 105F. February would've been more pleasant, I think. The Boneyard and the Pima museum were two of my favourite stops.

Can't imagine why you would go anywhere that there might be snow! Snow has mostly melted here (except for the piles). Sunny today and supposedly for a few days to come. We're going to check the boat out in Meaford on Monday, hope it wintered OK. We never got the tarp on in the fall. Have fun.

I don't see Russ in the pool yet! We've had a couple of sunny warmer day (above 0) so the snow should be all gone by the time you get back (as long as we don't get anymore) freezing rain tonight maybe. Hope to hear more.

Congratulations on making this trip, Kathie. Being able to get away for a month shows not only determination, but also exceptional organizational skills! We'll look forward to watching your progress. Maybe you can tell us something about the agriculture there.

And if you're out shopping, you can likely get a great deal on a T-shirt that says Arizona Cardinals - Super Bowl Champions.

Congratulations on making the effort and moving forward on a dream and goal to participate in this program Kathie. Hopefully going 'back to school' wasn't as scary as you thought it might be and now that you are months in to the program, you will have it fully under control. At least from my perspective it looks like you do.

Keep up the good work!

Great post, Kathi!

You can get away with question leads on a blog, because they're meant to be much more conversational than a news story.

This is a fine example of citizen journalism.

Kathie, I like your graphic here, and the link to the survey at the end. and of course the middle -- it's well developed! I can tell you put a lot of time into this post.

I believe you are trying to build conflict in the lead, correct? You have the right idea...how about this:

A new poll shows that more than 80 per cent of Canadians support research and the use of products and processes that involve biotechnology, but a growing number don't expect to benefit from biotechnology in their lifetime.
