Growing up on a family farm in rural Ontario, I quickly gained a strong work ethic, a keen interest in learning, and a passion for agriculture.
I recently received a graduate level Diploma in Agricultural Communications from the Ontario Agricultural College, University of Guelph. My previous education at Ridgetown College (now part of the University of Guelph) would lead me to work in a quality control laboratory with United Co-operatives of Ontario, then on to customer service and logistics with First Line Seeds Ltd., and ultimately to my position as Fund Development Manager/AALP Coordinator at The Centre for Rural Leadership.
My husband Russ and I live in rural Wellington County. Russ was raised on a dairy farm with a herd of Holsteins, while my family milked Jerseys. This has a tendency to lead to some minor disagreements and interesting discussions at home. Interestingly enough, we also have our differences when it comes to colours. Russ has a preference for Farmall red, while I have a fondness for John Deere green. Well, they do say that opposites attract.
For fun, we enjoy camping, travel, cruising in our classic cars and spending time with our two children and their partners (Karen & John, Greg & Cindy), five grandchildren (Ashleigh, Summer, Richard, Cody & Eric), dogs (Jake & Bailey) and cat (Skittles).
